Display Adapter issue

    Hey,

I've been having a problem with my display adapter for a while now. I've got a Sony Vaio FZ38M laptop and the original driver is an NVidia GEForce4800m. Basically, something went seriously wrong and I kept getting blue and yellow lines across the screen, frequent BSOD etc.

Eventually, the laptop wouldn't even boot up- the screen was just black after the windows icon appeared. I was still able to boot through safe mode, and managed to uninstall the graphics driver in the hope it might resolve the issue- when I restarted, everything was fine and I got a notification saying a 'standard VGA adapter' had been installed in its place.

So, with everything running fairly smoothly having done that, I decided to try reinstalling the NVidia adapter, but when I did the same problem occured- it just wouldn't boot up at all.

I'm back with the standard VGA one again now, and it's alright but limited. So the question is- are there any alternatives to the NVidia out there that might work, or is it a bigger problem with the laptop hardware that needs to be resolved?

Classic Nvidia problem. The card is knackered. Send it back.

As a generic the drivers dont trigger whatever part has kicked it but as soon as you put in the proper ones it has a fit.
