Would a custom IPSW from Pwnage Tool work or do i simply have to wait until 4.0 comes out and is cracked?

not unless it has shsh backed up on cydia.

No there is no carrier unlock as of yet but it is soon to be released. Fuzzyband will not work it is 3G specific
