Ok so I know you can connect your Desire to a computer and use it as a modem but can you say connect your Desire to a laptop/pc which is in turn connected (wired) to a modem in order to pick up internet on the phone?

i.e basically share the connection like you can with things like Xbox's

Blooming hell, is that kind of thing called swinging or what? Sounds dreadfully gymnastic.

I assume it would use the same setup as those 3g modems from vodafone etc.
Theres instructions on the Console forums for them.

Yes you can, you just need to share your laptops internet connection over wifi and then connect to it from your phone. Should work the same as if you were sharing with your xbox.

Was looking into this last night and this is the best I've found.

Seems simple enough but so far I've been unsuccessful in making a connection. My Nexus One wasn't picking anything up so I tested the connection using an old laptop, which was able to see the new network but was unable to use it's internet connection. When I set the connection up, the "Turn on Internet connection sharing" option never appears. Could someone check this out and see if it works. Would be greatly appreciated!
