Hey all I got home one nite and wanted to plug in my 1tb hard drive and look at pictures on it.

I was tired and did something that was a accident I was in bed I reached down for a cable and I plugged my power supply wire from my laptop and stuck it in the 1tb hard drive.

Then after I realized what I had done so I grabbed the right lead and plugged it in and it wont work now at all.

Did I blow the circuit board in it maybe ?

If its gone I'll have to dematle it and hook the hard drive up externally.

    leave your answers please

Its hard to be definite, but hopefully you have only trashed the enclosure; luckily they are not too expensive.

How much do you value your lost data ? There is a chance that the disk itself is OK and just the circuit board is fried, in which case its possible to get an identical drive and swap boards. You could get a 1TB drive new for 70euro or so at a guess, new. Have a look on ebay, and if you want to do it, its recommended to make sure the manufacture date of the board is very close to the trashed one, as well as model no/revision/etc
