Jockey looked very confident on Kuto Stars half-brother. Was basically standing still for 90% of the race. Seems that the jockey would have been better off winding him up but the winner did it very well.

We're all looking for the next Kauto Star and this horse hasn't discounted himself yet

    He certainly hasnt!

Both Mater Minded and Long Run have ran the that same race in the past and both were beaten! The omens are good!

Mullins two were a bit disappointing in Auteuil today although I never saw the race myself.

Mullins never seems to do well there. Sending a horse that couldn't win at Sligo over there, what else was he expecting?

Novice chaser Kauto Stone to visit Kempton

    By desmond stoneham 5:16PM 10 OCT 2010

    Report: France, Sunday

Auteuil: Prix Orcada (Group 3 chase) 2m5½f, 4yo

KAUTO STAR is likely to be joined by his half-brother Kauto Stone (Jehan Bertran de Balanda/ChristophePieux) at Kempton over Christmas when the latter is set to contest the Grade 1 Feltham Novices' Chase.

The four-year-old made all to win the Prix Orcada, one of four Group races on Sunday's Auteuil trials card for the International Jumps Weekend on November 6-7.

Last year the Orcada was won by subsequent Kempton scorer Long Run.

The four-year-old Kauto Stone had disappointed in his previous race and Bertran de Balanda said: "He went for a holiday in the summer and needed his last outing.

"Now we have put the record straight and the horse will next be aimed at the Prix Maurice Gillois back at Auteuil in a month's time. The owners then wish to send him to England."

    Addendum to last post actually...

Does anybody know if Kauto Stone will be sent to an English trainer, or will he remain French trained?

Exciting Kauto Stone snapped up by Geffen

KAUTO STONE, who recently joined his two-time Cheltenham Gold Cup-winning half-brother Kauto Star at Paul Nicholls' yard, has been bought by Robin Geffen, owner of last year's Ladbrokes St Leger winner Arctic Cosmos.

The exciting French recruit, who is making the same career move as this year's Gold Cup winner Long Run, was a purchase that "worked out perfectly" for fund manager Geffen, according to Nicholls.

Kauto Stone's biggest win came in France's top steeplechase for four-year-olds - the Prix Maurice Gillois at Auteuil last November - for owners Louise Kemble and Patrick Atkinson.

Nicholls said on Thursday: "When the horse came to me there was always an option that someone could buy him, but if not he would have stayed with the previous owners. But it worked out perfectly for Robin. He wanted to buy a top-class horse, so he bought this one."

Geffen's new recruit has yet to be put through his paces at Nicholls' yard and the trainer added: "He hasn't done any work yet, just light canters like the rest of them, and we haven't made any long-term plans but we're looking forward to the season."

Nicholls has also received six horses from Graham Wylie - Ascendant, Doeslessthanme, Double Expresso, Hold Fast, Quwetwo and The Knoxs - in addition to the one Wylie has at the stable in partnership with Andy Stewart.

All have come from Howard Johnson and Nicholls was appreciative of their former trainer's help. "I've yet to really get to know the horses, as they only came to me on Thursday, but Howard has been very helpful," said Nicholls.

The champion trainer has yet to set plans in cement for many of his other stable stars but outlined the Lexus Chase and a final tilt at the Cheltenham Gold Cup for 2008 winner Denman.

Nicholls said no plans had been made for Sanctuaire, impressive winner of the Scottish Champion Hurdle, but a switch to fences may be on his agenda.

Interesting he gave him to Nicholls and not Henderson, maybe Henderson is in line for a ban?:)
