Out of college

I finished my finals about three weeks ago and haven't had any luck (yet) on the job front.
My provisional results are out on Wednesday, so I was wondering if I should wait until I get them before I get a letter from the college to apply for social welfare? Or would I have to wait until the final results (2 more weeks) are out?

If you are finished in college, you can apply straight away.

Just get a letter from them to state you have finished.

I doubt it, unfortunately. You have to be available to work to claim, as far as I know.

you can get JSA 'Penisland' just don't tell them you'll be doing a Masters in Sept.
When Sept comes, you'll will then 'decide' to do a masters. nudge nudge wink wink

That would be welfare fraud. Reported. *nudge nudge, wink wink*

In most cases the OP would know by now if he'd been accepted for a masters, so YES, it WOULD be welfare fraud.

Although one may have an offer for a Masters, they are NOT a Masters student until they register with the college, which is usually in September.

I received JSB one summer before I went back to college. I had finished a year's work experience as part of a gap year so I wasn't registered as a student for the previous year. I was upfront about all of this when applying for the money and they were fine with it.

It's probably a different story though if you're applying for the dole after just finishing a year of college and are planning to go straight into another year.
