Speed cameras in Dublin Port Tunnel?

    Does anyone know if there is a speed camera or cameras in the tunnel now? This article says that a camera will be installed in each direction by the end of 2008 due to the amount of racing going on through it.

    Well i drive through it twice a month and i have gone a bit over the speed limit in there and not once have i got a ticket, i was in there once, and a guy in a merc was horsing through it, then the operators came over the radio and told the guy to slow down.

    I've never used the port tunnel, but this fascinates me - did they come over the car radio, or some kind of speaker system played throughout the tunnel?

    There's a speaker system in the tunnel and the operator can also hijack the full fm band to broadcast messages as far as I know.

    It wouldn't surprise me if they never got around to putting up the cameras.

    According to someone I know he was clocked, by a camera, doing 140mph in the tunnel in 2008 but it wasn't officially a road so he got off....

    Don't know how true it is.

    Yep one min listing to 98fm the next thing to this dublic accent describing the car and to slow down. i couldnt see the merc to see if he heard it or not as i was down the littel dip in the middle.

    Yes they can defo 'brake in' on your FM radio signal for emergency use. I believe there have been up to 80+ prosecutions for motor offences in the tunnel to date? There was also a recent tender sent out for speed cameras.
