hey was wondering, i bought a micra for my girlfriend recently, i have a car policy with quinn on my passat (fully licence and over 25), was wondering if i can drive the micra without having to change over my insurance, it says on my policy that i can drive any car as long as im not the registered owner, does the micra have to be insured for this to be valid or cani drive it?

The car you are driving must also have a insurance policy active.
Also you would only be covered third party on the micra

Your understanding of "open drive" is wrong. Open drive only allows other people to drive YOUR car and be covered.

What your talking about is 3rd party extension.
(as above, the car you drive will be covered 3rd party only, even if you have comprehensive insurance on your own policy)
You can legally drive the other car, the other car DOESNT need to be insured by another party, however it CANNOT be in your name.

Different insurance companies have different stipulations on their terms for 3rd party extension, i know quinn require the other car to have an NCT.

When i was with Aviva, they did not.

Another point to be very aware of is, your required to display an insurance disc in a car your driving at all times, so bring the cert withyou when you drive
