    has anyone else expierenced this?

Mine gets seriously hot if I'm watching youtube or using webradio.

I'm wondering if its just mine or if its normal

Depends on the model. I used to use a Huawei E169G from 3 and it would get red hot. The Huawei E180 that Meteor sell (I use it on the 3 network too) doesn't get half as warm.

It also depends on distance from mast. If signal is poorer the modem needs to transmit more power and also gets hotter.

Older models use more power too. Some even came with Y cables as the official max USB current is 0.5A.

(Apple don't care about these sort of specs. you'd need a 4 way Y cable for non-apple product to charge iPad)
