Looks like yea just get a NTSC SNES and remove the cart plastic bits and then also disable the lockout chip and do the 50/60hz switch and your done :) should be cheap really

It shouldnt cost much more than a standard SNES, the modification is straight forward.

I wouldn't pay more than 30-40euro. A SNES can be picked up dirt cheap at a car-boot sale and then the mod itself it less than an hours work for someone with soldering skills.
The only thing buying it would save yea is hassle.

Note, ensure it has a switch to enable/disable the region lockout chip and also to switch between 50/60Hz - some games check what mode the SNES is in as part of the region protection.

Ill second that. You should be looking for two switches, 1 to enable/disable the lockout chip...the other to switch between 50/60hz. As the kerbman says, some games check to see if the chip is disabled, not booting if it is...so you'll want the ability to enable the chip to boot some games.

Also 30 quid extra is about right...its not really worth much more than that.

If a 60Hz/Region mod is two hours work, then that's €17.30 at the minimum wage. If the fully modified SNES is only worth €30 then the SNES must be worth about €12.70, which is about right for a SNES with no controllers, no power supply, and no RGB lead. If it has all of those things then €50 would be more like it.

The mod isnt difficult, but its trickier than say cleaning a toilet. You cant quantify unofficially modifying electronics with wage amounts. Its a specialised job including soldering, lifting legs of ic's and some wiring work. If someone asked me to do that mod Id charge about 25/30 euro...any cheaper than that and its not worth my while given the small chance of borking the console, any dearer and it wouldnt be fair. Its that price because its fair, not because of EU regulations.
