Have sky HD sub and new UK white FTV Card

    Hi all,

I have an active sky HD sub and have just got a new white FTV UK card from parents address in UK.

I want to pair the white UK card to the box so I can get the UK EPG with ITV HD, Channel 4HD, FIVER etc...

    Two questions.

    1. If i call sky to pair the white UK FTV card to the box, will this affect the paired active Irish sub card? Can i have two active cards paired to the same box? My thoughts were to just be able to swap cards over in the box to watch from the UK EPG (Channel 4HD Etc) from time to time

    2. If the above is possible, with the white UK card in, will I be able to record from the UK EPG onto the HD box? ie; record channel 4 HD?

    Thanks in advance..

You dont need to ring Sky to pair an FTV card to a box, simply unplug your box for a few minutes and then remove your exsisting card, then replace it with the FTV card and leave on for a few hrs best to do at nite for the card to activate.

You can switch the cards but will need to keep the ftv card active so switch whenever you can or keep active by getting and old Sky box installed in another room and use the ftv card in it till u want to watch CH4 HD..

The only way you will be able to record using the FTV card is if it was a card that has the Skyplus functions on it which is probably unlikely ....Sky charge £10 sterling for this facility....

On a similar-ish topic; I have a white Sky FTV card, that I phoned up to activate a few months ago. Hadn't used it for about a week and when I tried it last night CH4HD, Fiver and Fiver USA aren't working. All I'm getting is an on-screen message saying "This is the wrong card for this set top box. Insert the correct Sky viewing card. Call your broadcaster for assistance.". Have I been rumbled? Or is it connected to the fact that I cancelled my Sky subscription a day or two back (unlikely)? I left the card in the box overnight, but still no joy this morning. Don't fancy having to ring Sky again to re-activate it. I am also awaiting delivery of an Edision combi receiver; will the card work in that unit, once the necessary firmware has been downloaded? That card was handy for Ch4HD!
    :(

I doubt you have been rumbled:D that message dispalys when the card has missed a stay alive signal. leave it in the box on sky3 over night and it should re activate. I found an old ftv card today that i had lost about 3 months ago. It reactivated today for me. The edision will read the card with unofficial firmware, not sure if it will update your entitlements though

Cheers for the heads up; will try that tonight. Might as well leave the FTV card in now that I've cancelled my sub.
*edit* Tried it this morning and the missing channels are back. Thanks Gan!

No worries. Also if your going to be using it with your edision just remember to put the card back in the sky box every week or two (think updates last for 5 or 6 weeks) or it will die again....;)

Will do. Indeed I'll probably keep it in the Sky box, only taking it out when there's anything half decent on Ch4HD (a saturday/sunday night film for example).
    Cheers.
