Indian police are holding a pigeon under armed guard after it was caught on an alleged spying mission for arch rivals and neighbours Pakistan, media reported on Friday.

The white-coloured bird was found by a local resident in India's Punjab state, which borders Pakistan, and taken to a police station 40 kilometres (25 miles) from the capital Amritsar.

The pigeon had a ring around its foot and a Pakistani phone number and address stamped on its body in red ink.

Flog it to death as punishment, as per usual.

Maybe the bird will try and fly the coup.
    Otherwise his sauce is cooked!

With these fly-by-nights one has to suspect fowl play.
His goose is cooked though, only chance of escape now is a on wing and a prayer.
I wonder if he is entitled to a phone call.If so,he ll be literally a bird on a wire.

    This is hardly something new

During the occupation of the Channel Islands it was illegal to own a pigeon

A pigeon singing like a canary!
Don't think I'd like to hear that.
I'd say it would be fowl.

    Sorry.

    Not wood pigeon, very tasty;)

Edit: This thread just reminded me that I have a few pigeon breasts in the freezer. I have just taken them to defrost; we eat spies up here.
