My husband is thinking of buying a 1.2 Skoda Fabia Ambiante petrol under the scrappage scheme. We wondered is this a good buy.

Nice cars.. Is it the new model which just came out this month? Don't be fobbed off with an old model unless it is cheap. Personally I'd go for the new 1.2TSi over the older 1.2HTP..

Thank you SI_guru for the advice. We are being offered what I'm sure is an old model Fabia Classic 1.2, 5door, 44kW,for 13,000, less Gvmt. scrappage of 1,500 and the Garage doscount of 1,500,which leaves it at 10,000. We want metallic paint for which we have to pay 500, so a total of 10,000 we have to pay.We also get free mats and plates and a fuel voucher for 20 euro worth of petrol and the first check over at 2500km for free. is this a reasonable deal?

The fual, mats and numberplates should all be included. I'd be pushing for free metallic paint, a full tank of petrol, the mats and a set of mudflaps.

Sounds like a good deal. I'd push for a full tank of fuel too.. Mudflaps and mats.. Just a tip, make sure the driver mat is fixed (i.e. safe).

As for the paint.. if it is in stock (which it is) don't pay for metallic... what are they going to do? Take it off?

The first check is always free - well on any car I have had, so it's not a bargaining chip for them!

    Enjoy it!
