Home inherited by Son

My question is if a single man who is living back at home
with his widowed mother for the last couple of years (long sad story)
is the sole beneficiary of her estate, just the house they are living in,
will he have to pay taxes on his inheriting of the house when she dies.?
They are both worrying about this, and believe that he would be made
homeless by revenue. The House would be valued at approx. €350K.
The son is her only child and is a named beneficiary in her will.

Thanks in advance for any advice received.

Thanks Carpenter & bluewolf, they have both been through a lot and at least his mother will stop worrying about him being made homeless because of some tax issues after her passing.
