I guess OpenTTD would be in the retro category, there doesn't seem to be a subforum for transport sims.

Here's a HD video I made of OpenTTD with the unofficial 32bpp graphics mod and Extra Zoom Levels. This is not the officially supported graphics set, the standard OpenTTD still uses the 8-bit graphics set.

Anyway, here's a little video I made, best watched in HD:

OpenTTD is free to download and is very addictive. Its like having your own little train set.

Can be played on Windows, Mac or Linux.

Nice vid. I got back into Open TTD a few months back (well, got back into TTD via OpenTTD) and it's been ruining ruling my life ever since. I sometimes wish Chris Sawyer or someone would come along and create a version that allowed you to rotate, zoom, etc. And then sometimes I think the charm of TTD is its graphical simplicity.

Thanks! I think you're right, part of the charm of OpenTTD is the geometric simplicity of it, so that's it's somewhat like a board game. Some people want to do away with the square grid look, but I think that would ruin it.

I do like the realistic looking graphics in the 32bpp version though, and the ability to zoom in real close.

It sure does eat up the hours though.:)
