Has anyone any idea why the smoke monster makes those mechanical train track type sounds, and its T Rex style horn? It really makes very little sense now that we know that he is an organic entity?

Anyone have any logical theory? (Apart from the obvious reason that the writers hadn't a clue.)

seeing as its a smoke monster and we have nothing to judge it against we probably just have to accept whatever sound it makes. we can't really compare it to any other smoke monster so we just have to accept the sound they gave us. unless there was an actual answer that i missed.

Honestly, and I don't mean to sound harsh, but why do you give a sh!t what sound it made?

Its something that was made up for a tv show - it could have sounded like a chicken or a dog but it sounded like it sounded.

I think it's purely so it gave at least a slim possibility of the smoke being explained as some sort of man made invention.

The writers probably had an explanation early but then changed their minds later and couldn't lose the noise then.
