    Who would win?

I have an issue in my job with idiots in cars running across a loading bay to get out of the building quicker at the end of the day. one of my lads will be involved in an incident fairly soon.

The forks is a counter balance mitsubishi 07, the cars vary :)

Fairly sure there will be a clash and im not sure who will win, forks weighs 2.5 tonnes cars about the same, forks has steel body and uh forks but the caging isnt steel.

Anyone know the science of idiot in car vs forks? google didnt help at all, assume if its front on the forks will win due to the forks taking most of the clash but side on? most likely scenario.

Forks will win, 2.5 tonne is the lifting capacity so the truck will weigh closer to 3 tonne.

the forklift will win, the weight on the plate may be around 2.5 ton but i dont think that includes batteries or attachments,it could easily be touching 3 tons,

no car i can think of is near this weight, if an average car hit a forklift it would be destroyed,

If it's a fd25 which is a 2 and half ton lift as a rule of thumb you can add another ton to get the truck weight ,not including attachments and assuming it is a standard free view mast with no attachments , If it hits a car ,I would not like to be paying the repair bill ,Not to be smart but if people are doing what you say and taking shortcuts across a loading bay you really need to tell someone because its a health and safety issue and if a accident occurs health and safety will come in and the the first thing they ask for is driver training records , then maintenance records for the truck and who is in charge of this and the sad thing is it will be the joe soap on the floor who takes the flak
so a word to the wise inform your bosses what is happening , also make sure you have a signed document that says you have brought this to the attention of your superiors,I work with forklifts and i know how much the health and safety issue has started in companies but they have all forgot to explain to employees the safety issue of being around forklifts on a factory floor or building site they have as much to be taking care as the driver does

This actually happened to my brother in law a few years ago, the forks went straight through the RH rear door of his BMW, he was in the drivers seat at the time and was very shaken. The forklift driver was in the wrong in this case.

As said, make sure you raise this with the bosses in writing.

If I were on a 2.5 ton forklift and was unfortunate enough to have a car run into me while on it, I do not think I would feel like a winner even if the car was in shyte after the impact TBH.
