    Hi,

Getting a bit annoyed at not getting access to some iphone applications such as spotify, nuance etc. Is the only way of getting them on a non jailbroken iphone 3gs to move over to a US itunes account? Any way of having irish itunes account and us itunes account apps living together on the same phone, a pipedream i think.

    Cheers,

It is no problem at all.

I have both a UK and US account and have downloaded apps onto my Irish-account IPhone without problem.

    Instructions here : http://www.ghacks.net/2009/02/09/create-a-free-us-itunes-account-from-any-country/

You need to register a US based credit card if you want to purchase US apps. Registering in the above way will allow you full access to all free US itunes apps though and there are many that are worth having. You can also ask someone you know in the US to buy you an itunes voucher or buy one yourself on ebay and use it to make purchases with your US itunes account.

I had trouble setting up a UK account as there was no paypal or "none" option in the payment method section. How did you manage it?

Doh, just seeing this thread now. It seems like it is worth the effort of setting up a US iTunes account so. One question, can you run the US and Irish one in parallel and have paid for Irish apps on the same device as paid for US apps without much hassle?

Hmmmm, not sure - it was over a year ago. Having said that, I do have a credit card that operates from the UK, so maybe I used that.

You sign out of your Irish account to sign into the US iTunes account and vice versa. It's very simple. For example if you scroll to the bottom of any main app store page you see an option to sign out.

You can have apps from any store working fine on the same device. It causes no problems and is no different than downloading and running an app from the Iridh app store.

Another pro for the US store is that lots of apps have thousands of ratings so you get a better feel for whether an app is good or not than you do on the Irish store star rating.

I've followed the procedure from the link above (http://www.ghacks.net/2009/02/09/cre...m-any-country/) to the letter.

Clicked to download a free app in US itunes store, clicked to create a new apple I.D., selected payment method 'none' and entered fake but real name and address based in US.

It won't work and I keep getting "Your credit card was declined. Please enter valid credit card information"

Any suggestions to get around as I'd really like to get my hands on a good few free apps that are only available in US itunes...

    Cheers

Did you manage to create the account? I just tried now and keep getting the same error message even that I Select "None" and enter No Credit Card Details.

Ya im the same. Think the only way around it is to buy an iTunes gift card from the us. Balls!

The none option is now gone, so you need to buy a gift card it seems.

it should appear only when you register your details through purchasing a free app...any other content that is free and the 'none' option doesn't show...

Not sure if the checks Apples does are on the IP address and give an error with the credit card, I wonder if anyone in the US tries to register in Itunes from there might work as they will have a US IP address.

Another solution might be to get a Virtual Credit Card from the US but not sure how easy that is.
