Galway Questions

    Hi all,

To my great shame I know very little about Galway and my wife & I + another couple (all aged late 30's) are going to Galway for a couple of nights in a few weeks time. We're planning to stay Sunday and Monday nights. We're all into our food and drink, like to stay somewhere nice within walking distance of bars, restaurants etc and myself and the other lad will play golf on the Monday while the girls chill out shopping etc.

We're thinking of staying at the Harbour Hotel (http://www.harbour.ie) as they have a good deal which equates to approx €75 a night per room/couple including breakfast.

Anyone got any thoughts on the hotel? Is there somewhere as well located but nicer I should consider? Maybe somewhere with a pool/sauna?

What would your suggestions be for Golf? We're both keen but very average golfers so would like to play somewhere nice not too fat from the city i.e. a 20 minute drive or so. Any ideas?

Finally, we're all into our grub (the other lad's a chef) so any suggestions for good seafood and/or good ethnic or 'different' restaurants would be very welcome both for lunch and dinner.

We're looking for value for money all round (who isn't?) but not at the expense of quality so not looking for the cheapest of the cheap. We want to do our bit for the economy!!

    Thanks for your suggestions.

    Ben
