    Hi everyone,
I'm looking to save myself money on TV so ive decided to try FTA. Have an old Skybox(with a card) and a dish on the side of my house (had Sky 2 years ago).

Have had Chorus since so they took out the Sky cables.

What do I need to hook everything up, cables etc?

    Mucho Thanks :)

U will need to run a cable from your skydish to the room you require to use the fta box, any cable such as rg6 grade will be fine if its a short run but id recommend using ct100 or equivalent if possible. You will need an F connector at both ends of the cable and use waterproof taping on all connections outdoors...mite be cheaper and safer to get some1 in to do it for you, shouldnt cost too much to do...

However you will not get the Irish terrestrial channels on FTA and you will need an aerial for this..

Agree with above but connect old Sky box to your dish first to check its working.
If it is you'll get FTA on your Sky box! :)

Thanks for the advice guys now just gotta get a ladder!
Also someone recommended I change the LNB, its been left uncovered for a long time now exposed to the elements, what do ye think?
    Just test it first?

Ok so went to Power City and they gave me a 10m Co-ax Cable with F-plugs each end, plugged one into LNB and one into the Sky Box and......

    nothing!

No signal is being recieved, looks like the LNB is knackered?
