    Hi,

I'm just in the middle of my second year exams in that couse at the moment, and I'm enjoyin it. It's always difficult to predict points accuratly, as its based on demand, but here are the points over the past few years.

    2003 - 335
    2004 - 345
    2005 - 335
    2006 - 340
    2007 - 305
    2008 - 330
    2009 - 315

I wouldn't bank on anything less than 350 really, and even at that your by no means guaranteed.

I would say though, and this is purely based on your user name, "FocusRS" and a previous post of yours - this course is not about being a mechanic, or a car designer, or really anything about cars. (That may come later in your career if it's what you want to persue, I don't think this course would be a bad start tho.)

That said, the course is quite varied with labs and projects designing simple gearboxes and the like. (In first year there's labs on a tuesday afternoon where you do welding and machining - but its really for people who didn't do LC engineering.)

Here are most of the subjects we do:

Have a look the the couse page on the main DIT website too, and consider going in to meet the course head, I'm sure they'd be happy to go through the course with you.

    Back to study for me.....

    Good luck!
    Kev

I think 3rd level applications are way up this year meaning that the points for everything can be expected to rise compared with last year
