Any opinions on this car? Is it likely to give me a load of hassle?

    Cheers

    No, if:

    1. it's been properly cared for

    and

    2. you continue to do the same.

    If, however, you:

    1. buy something with a partial SH

    2. lack mechanical empathy

    3. adopt a slipshod approach to maintenance

then you'll quite possibly be in for a world of pain.

Yep, and bring along a Alfa Mech to look it over, not a lad who thinks he's one...:)

Bargain hard if it doesn't have a FSH. Look out to see if its burning oil. The 1.6 isn't the best engine, the 1.8 is a much sounder engine.

Ignore Alfa's recommendation of changing T/B at 72k, but to do it at 36k instead as there is a high failure rate of the tensioners. Alfa electrics - 'nuff said. Pick and Mix of problems from alarm problems, blowing fuses, c/l problems,

If you're willing to overlook the above they are a brilliant car if you get a good one. Look at a few. Try to find an enthusiasts car, try the classifieds in the owners forums.
