Thought about bringing this old topic in. Which do you prefer, bolt or semi snipers? Is there any relevance to either in airsoft, does the quieter bolt make a difference to the louder semi with its gears? Oh im a bolt man myself:)

the classic bolt action for me :D

I prefer the action of the bolt. It feels that each shot is much more defined. Although, I prefer semi for on the move...obvious reasons. I detest full auto

Semi for noobs..be it Airsoft/Battlefield or Call of Duty ;)

I go with semi..got a CA M24 and having to level back the bolt makes it more realistic

Semi, purely because my favourite sniper rifle is the psg-1 and on the few occasions I've used it for sniping, have had good fun with it.

Depends on what environment I'm in, if its a built up area and I need quick follow up shots, then semi, but other wise bolt action ftw.

    Bolt action. End of story.

Being quiet is a fairly large factor in sniping and it would take alot of work to get a gearbox to be as quiet as a bolt action (if it could be done at all). And if you need more then one shot that quickly your doing something wrong :P.

Edit: That being said I'd still love a Barrett m82 :D.

you can get a styer aug to be fairly quiet, so this can be used as a suitable platform for CQB sniping. each platform (aeg and bolt action) has there merits IMHO, and so it becomes a case of matching the tool to the job! :D

I'm not really drawn to sniping as a tactic in airsoft, but I love bolt action rifles in general. The only bolt action airsoft rifle I have is the Dboys Kar98, but the shell ejection is just wonderful, I love it :)

Semi for me, im no sniper but an m14 user. mostly using semi shots i dont really pull the trigger unless ive a definate shot. but then again half the time ive the m14 slung on my back with the m9 drawn only to get drilled point blank by some lipo junkies....

gave up on he bolt actions due to bb's bouncing off leaves or whatever and for the sames reason - gettn return fire from more lipo junkie's. So hats off to those dedicated airsoft snipers :pac:

@SwarfegaHead: Nice, but watch the Kar, my brother has it and you might find the bolt wont catch the shell and it will be stuck so you have to get your cleaning rod out

@fletch: Thanks, we rarely get complements, the trick is to be very very quiet ;)

I'd prefer bolt action myself, its what defines a sniper rifle for me in airsoft.

Really miss having one, had a JB bar10 i got rid of but id nearly buy a TM VSR now, they are great fun and the completely different play style, although not suiting me, was a nice change and im sure if i stuck with it, id have a blast.

same here. I had a JG bar 10, dont think I even used it in one skirmish. Sold it and was sorry since.

Would buy another in the future - think I'd go for the TM VSR too. :)

As a proud TM VSR owner i can not say enough about this POR (Piston Operated Rifle, i think airsoft needs more acronyms)

accurate, quiet and unbelievably reliable , i bought mine in Sept 08....still going and all i have done is replace a piston due to m100 spring (dont need this much power standard spring is perfect)

If this POR ever breaks i wouldnt hesitate to buy a new one straight away . IMHO TM are the greatest thing to have ever happened to airsoft...well except for me :pac: :D:D:D:):):):rolleyes::rolleyes::cool:

actually just checked my review on the site i bought it from, it was Dec 07 :O TM epic greatness
