Hi, im trying to get my korg prophecy's arpeggiator to sync to Cubase BPM (midi clock)..the problem is i want to actually play the prophecy while im doing it....(prophecy only has a knob for bpm so im always out of time when playing in real time)

if anyone could tell me if this is a simple process id appreciate it...

    Thanks

Should be a simple process alright! :D

I don't have a Prophesy but somewhere like Utilities there shold be a parameter called something like Sync. It will allow it to recieve tempo information from the computer, you should be looking for MIDI beat clock. . There should also be a method in Cubase that will set it to transmit sync.

thanks i got it to sync...but the sound gets messed up (like its distorting)...is this a typical issue with syncing synths?

    thanks again...

be careful you aren't trying to make it sync digitally, via word clock or similar. ie trying to sync the sound aspect of the keyboard as opposed to just the midi...

dunno if it's capable of that but it kinda sounds like it..

maybe an obvious thing but make sure "local off" is set on the prodigy

the midi info should be going out the output of the keyboard only, into cubase, then back out. if its doing that AND its going direct from the keys to the prodigy you'll get strange results.

thanks for the help :)....yea on the prophecy : ive set local on (as i want to play the prophecy) and set clock to external (as i want to use cubase midiclock for the arpeggiator bpm)... but it only recieves a clock signal when i press play on cubase....and the sound is messed up....

ive heard early versions of the prophecy had huge problems syncing...

ive tried motu midi clock but for some reason prophecy ain't recieving clock signals....

im probably missing something obvious...as im really not even sure where to set the bpm (i assumed it was on the cubase stop/ play controlbar)

Have a similar problem myself. Have a korg electribe but when i put it at the same tempo as logic it lags.. ie 120 on logic might be only 119 on the electribe despite it reading 120 ,,, if that makes sense?

ive set local on (as i want to play the prophecy)

have you got midi in and midi out cables hooked up? if so you should still set local off. the midi info should travel from the keys to the computer and back to the keyboard. if you leave local on the keyboard is getting double midi info for all notes, that may be whats causing the weird sounds.

if you've only got one midi cable connected to the midi in of the keyboard from the midi out of cubase then this isn't the problem:)
