Am playing the smurfit course at the K club tomorrow morning in a competition and as i have not played it before, any tips or advice would be great.

Im guessing it will be off the medal tees and I play off 8 if this is helpful to anyone.

The last comp I played there was played off of the green tees so the course wasn't that long. So as long as you keep it on the fairways you should not have very long second shots into the par 4s. The only thing is that off of the green tees the bunkers are very much in play off the tee. And there are plenty of them!! Enjoy!

Rather than start a new thread....

Same question, playing the Smurfit Course tomorrow morning, probably society tees?, 3 points behind in our society golfer of the year so any and all advice welcome as I have not played it before.

    TIA!

Bring plenty of balls. Last time I played it after a bit of rain I lost balls due to full plugs. Even on the fairway the ball was 3/4 plugged at times.

Bring a bucket and spade for the sand castles.

Played it once, good shot - in bunker, bad shot -in bunker.

I won't be back to that course.

They had placing today, needed to for muck balls, just the one embedded for me today, weather georgous to start off with, 18points on front 9, heavens opened and it was brutal 10-15 but my wet gloves worked their magic for 23points on the back 9, 18th fairway real wet, greens very good, just the odd bunker with casual water, lovely course and I'd like to play it on a nice sunny day with a bit of travel on the ball.
