Yes, it's long but I think he makes a few very good points. (strange that his last name is Braun!) I still cant find the slides he used at that URL address though so if someone finds it, let me know! One of them in particular was a graph of the amount of chemical propellent mass required for trips beyond the Earths gravity well.

Would you care to comment on any of the points? I dont fancy watching a 1 hour 15 minute video just to see what his points are...

    Enternow,what a helpful comment!
If You are interested then watch the video,If You are not then don't discourage people who bother to go to the trouble of posting in the S&A forum,it is a tiny community as it is.

Perhaps Buller should make You a nice cup of tea as well?

I didnt mean to come across as harsh as it read...but an hour and 15 mins man...I think thats a bit unreasonable to watch without knowing what the hell its about. I mean I wouldnt watch a film without knowing what its roughly about...thats all I was getting at.

But yeah milk & two sugars please.

Hello! Ah he only talks for about 30 minutes... :p I didn't take notes and I watched it last week while in the middle of exams so please excuse my any omitions or brevity..

He's been recently appointed the position of chief technologist.

Started by telling it us the limitations of current propulsions with regard to manned flights beyond the Moon or NEO's. Think he quoted 12 ISS mass loads to LEO would be required for a Mars mission using chemical means.

Talks about infeasibility of it. (joke about asking congress for 12ISS's)

Wants to see Mars mission within his lifetime.

Graph shows how new technologies like cyrogenic boil off, "advanced in space propulsion", aerocapture,...ect can bring mass required down to 2 ISS payloads to LEO! Still a grand challenge, but can be rationally discussed. Power of technology investment...

Talk about new budget. New office of chief technologist... goals... listed on slides I think. (I still really want those slides!!)

    Flight testing technologies... new missions...
Technology requirements for NEO 2025 mission and Mars 2035. Goals and tech requirements.
Talks a lot about new office they've formed. Focusing on "grand challanges".

Game Changing Dev Program. level 2 office at langley. New capabilities that could dramitically impact future aims.
Crosscutting development programs.... demonstration testing in atmosphere and LEO...

Budget advertised at 5billion over 5 years but it's actually closer to 3.5billion.
NASA being treated as a major player in America's renewed focus on research and innovation. great opportunity!

Q&A at the end... *deep breath* :D

The powerpoint slides looked nice and I'd love to have a proper gawk at them!

(Your tea is ready, out of sugar)
