"Not one cent"...I am ferociously sick of beggars annoying me

I live in the city centre of Dublin. I am ferociously sick of beggars everywhere looking for money.

It seems the only people in the city centre at the middle of the day are tourists and beggars.

They are more and more aggressive and brazen. I saw one approaching people sitting outside Citibar on Dame Street right in front of a police car. The useless Ban Garda walked over to him and said "you really shouldn't be doing that" but let him off.

He was a typical scumbag in a tracksuit bottoms and wooly jumper.
They are all so self centered and feral and aggressive. Their eyes dart around the place looking for easy target.

Is this a rational choice by beggars. Have they just decided that it makes more sense to beg all day then run the risk of doing a handbag snatch. Is this an Irish way to keep crime down?

It just makes day to day life in Dublin so horrible. I hate it.

If the law and the poverty/addiction industry refuse to deal with this..then it is up to the public. Anyone who gives money to a beggar under any circumstances bears a responsibility for perpetuating the problem. If no-one gave them money they wouldn't do it.

Man I've been in the city centre most days since the 80s. This is not the way Dublin has to be - or ever really was.

Half the people the people who try to downplay this live in Foxrock or Malahide and never encounter it. The other half start sound like they're quoting 'Dublin in the Rare Auld Times' and pretend it was always like this. It wasn't.

All the examples of manifest child abuse from women begging with children really annoys me. Those children are obviously neglected. The State tolerates it.

haha would love if that story was true!

I would give them a euro a lot of the time, obviously if I didn't have much I wouldn't give them anything though.

OP, your post is more of a rant, maybe PM dr bollocko or another mod of Ranting and Raving for Access.
