    Then

i remember as a kid eurovision night was like new years eve. You couldnt miss it at all! my older sisters(18+) would stay in with the family and watch it, my parents would plug out the phone and door locked and not answered if someone knocked.

Pubs used to have eurovision nights and when we won there would be partys goin on in the estate an hour after the results

    Now

No one cares- when anyone says "Are you watching the eurovision" its met with laughter and being called "Sad". Seems the "micky joe hart"s and "donna and josephs" of the country have made us laughing stocks and the days of "The Voice" and "Rock and roll kids" are gone

So do you give a crap anymore? or are we just too far down to crawl back

So do you give a crap anymore?

    Once every two days.
More frequent if I've been on the bran flakes.

Ah I like it...To me, the final would be the same as an international match. Not an important international match, just an international match.

Used to care, Don't now. Sending a fake turkey was enough to convince me that it's worthless now.

I don't have the same enthusiasm for it but I still hope we do well in it and will be watching on Saturday.

    Couldn't give a flying sh1te about it.

A big campfest with painful performances.

    Anymore?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 354 ✭✭snazzy

Did, didn't for the last few years, beginning to again.

Maybe with an actual solid song with Niamh Kavanagh and the new semi-final and voting rules, there could be a bit of enthusiasm with it again.
Used to be such great craic.

    Glad Ireland got through tonight.

We should permanently withdraw from the Eurovision, it's an insult to our intelligence. Our little country has a great heritage of quality singers, musicians and songwriters. So we shouldn't prop up this $hite by participating in it and lending it credence.

Should it not be called the Eastern Eurovision nowadays?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,277 ✭✭✭evolutionqy7

it should be banned in general...most countries entering it have great songs out there...but once it comes to euro vision they all try to show of their heritage or something and sing crap songs...its also corrupted and faked voting system...screw that

Ever since Terry Wogan stopped, it wasn't worth it any more. His satire was the one thing that we always watched for.

Every year since 1997 or 1998 was unwatchable, those rumours that Ireland purposely lost because of the cost of hosting, I think, disillusioned many people & then they grew up & realised how completely sh*te the whole thing is...

Hi All....I used to...then didnt...but now do again.....and believe it or not the Eurovison has made a huge comeback with teens the last few years....all my friends teenage kids are all massively into it......ask around...maybe its just down our end of the country but I was shocked when I heard.....
My smallies are into it aswell...so its great that Niamh through cause its a nice bit of family entertainment.....bring me back to my own youth and the exitment at the voting part....

Delighted for Niamh last night - she deserved it. Also thought the standard was quiet decent last night over all....it was much better then Tuesday nights entries. Lots of cheese too but thats all part of it. And last years winner was a great song I thought.....so thats my 2 cent. Looking forward to tomorrow night.....

I really couldn't care less. I lost interest when the telephone voting started - and Dustin was the final straw!

It most definitely is just down your end of the country. I have teenage kids and if it the Eurovision was on in the garden they would draw the curtains. It's a load of sh1te and Niamh looked like a ginger fish wife.

Just another reason to feel the love cause you were born in the 80's.

    We escaped the stupid!

    :D
Not calling you stupid if you like Eurovision, just mentally challenged ;)

That's too much of a compliment, as it gives crap a bad name.

Never was in to it, probably because I spent most of my childhood outside Europe. I heard it mentioned as how ABBA got their big break, but that was about it.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

not since it became all about "voting for your neighbour" rather than the song itself.

    Feel sorry for Niamh tonight

    Feckin Joke.

My thoughts exactly. However I think there was a better buzz about Eurovision this year. I thought we had a fighting chance. There's no way that song deserves to be second last (currently). Better hope the Brits give us 12 points.

Mind you it's easy to forget how rediculously good we were years ago. Thanks youtube for bringing back the memories. And riverdance... well we have that as our defining moment at least.
