Does one of these threads exist already?

I love my X10, but the slowness of update is really beginning to bug me. It seems the brother (who has the Nexus) has better hardware and way better software.

Like tbh I don't mind too much about the 2 touch pinch zoom or any of that, just it feels kinda slow, unresponsive. I don't think I have too many apps though I'll start to delete some.

Finally I know this sounds really bitchy, I'm not saying its not an awesome phone. It is, I am just thinking I probably should have got the nexus, its awesomer.

Please someone agree and make me feel not alone, or disagree and convince me my choice wasn't terrible.

I was actually half thinking of starting one of these threads :D

I have my Xperia X10 all of six weeks now and the longer I have it the more disappointed I feel. Don't get me wrong, it's a lovely phone but I do find it slow and sometimes unresponsive and obviously the software issue is a pain in the nuts (waiting another 4 months to get 2.1 while most HTC devices will probably have 2.2 in 4 weeks). Also when I got it all of my mates (mostly iPhone users with a few HTC guys sprinkled in) wanted a 'go' on it and the general consensus was a resounding 'Meh!'...........even from my mate with the HTC HD2 (I soon put him on his place, even though he threw the "mine has more RAM" shíte at me :p

I have to say the one saving grace is the camera, the 8.1MP takes stunning photos and videos and I read on the official SE blog that are upgrading the video to HD in the next big update in September.

Overall though, I think the Desire or especially the Nexus One would have been a much smarter choice.

i got mine about 6 weeks ago. I like the phone but the one thing that drives me mad is the battery. When its plugged in and gets 100% charged it goes back to using the battery again, how they thought this was a good idea ill never know. smartphones fairly fly thru the battery anyway but to have the thing charging overnight and then wake up to find its only 92% charged is beyond a joke!!

I defo don't have this issue at all. Mine always charges fully, and more to the point mine seems to last on 100% for like half an hour... Its quite amazing.

Battery was a much bigger problem for me until recently, now it seems ok and I spend a lot of time watching movies and browsing.

Has anyone tried doing that software changing thing...

My battery has been giving me grief also, I find it very random too which is really frustrating. Sometimes I can get close to 3 days power with light usage while other days I can only get less then 24hours with the exact same usage. I use Task Killer Advanced to close applications after I use them but some applications (Google Gesture, Moxier Mail) keep on appearing in the Task Killer Advanced list even though I never use them.

Do you mean the Creatouch download? No not yet, but it looks quite cool.

    I actually meant rooting.

Oh right, sorry. From reading varies forums only a handful of people have actually successfully rooted their Xperia X10's and they needed an SETool to do so. It's basically still a work in progress so I'd be very apprehensive of even thinking about rooting the device at this moment in time.

I was just thinking that maybe SE will bypass 2.1 altogether and go straight to 2.2. It would actually make perfect sense because Gingerbread (2.3/2.5) will be out before Christmas and when there next flagship device comes out in 2011 then I'm sure they will want to have the latest OS installed to keep up with their competitors. Just a thought.
