Picasa Cropping Problem

Can someone please help me out here before I go insane! I'm trying to restore some old photos; scanned 4 old photos per file in jpeg format, e-mailed them to my home address and started editing in Picasa. Opened the jpeg file direct in Picasa and started to crop 1 of the 4 pictures. I got the first couple of pics cropped and immediately it magnified to the size of the screen without losing any of its picture quality. Perfect. The dimensions were 1035x700pixels, pretty much looked like I had the exact size of the photo on the screen in front of me.

Since then I've tried to crop the other photos and they wont magnify unless I zoom in it, and I lose the picture quality. The dimensions remain about 300 x 200 pixels so I find it impossible to edit properly. I'm sure I'm doing something simple wrong, Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I think you should have scanned the photos into seperate files. I think it will make a difference when in Picasa.

The photos only magnify automatically if the picture is above a certain size. If its a smaller picture, when you zoom in it will be lower quality
