    hi,
i applied for a 1 year work visa for canada a while back, i paid the 409euro for the visa, and submitted my all documents yesterday, police cert, pics,cv,etc,
however today i received a phone call from usit telling me that my application may be rejected as i have a conviction for assault:(
if i cancel my application now ill get a full refund but if i go ahead and try it, ill lose my refund and it will be logged on there database that i was refused entry to canada so may effect even a future holiday there
    ... so what to do?
cancel tomorrow and get refund, or gamble 409euro and give it a try??
i asked the usit agent who rang me what my rejection chances were, she told me 90%
anyone else ever in the same boat??
i wouldnt mind the assault was only 1 or 2 punches drunken thrown after a niteclub years ago, nothing serious or nobody hospitalised ffs:rolleyes:

It's not just a gamble of €409, its a gamble for any future Canadian visas, once you're refused a visa it can be extremely hard to get one in the future, even a holiday visa. Personally I don't think it's worth the gamble if you ever want to go to Canada for any other reason in the future.

OP get in touch with the Embassy and ask to speak to a consular offical about it. They are not there to judge you and should provide honest open information about your chances of getting the visa.

With that knowledge you can then proceed or cancel.
