Has anyone done any August repeats before - are they usually held in the Helix or the Sports Hall or in the Minor Hall (climbing wall).

I'm pretty sure all are used. I know I've been in the Sports Hall before, and MAYBE the Helix... But I'd say all of them. Why?

Definitely had my first year Chem repeat in Minor Hall, actually.

Same as regular exams they use The Helix, The Venue and Sports Halls.

Some of them are held in the Albert College building in the rooms above the 1838 Club, I'm not sure if that's used as an exam centre normally.

Does it matter where you repeat an exam? :)

Maybe he wants to paint the walls and ceiling with exam notes in some sort of elaborate code.

Yup, I bet that's what it is.
