    Hey all,

Im getting a little Summer shopping list together and Im interested in the Behringer BCF 2000 control surface.

Has anyone used one of these? Im also considering the BCR 2000 too. I still need to have a think about that.

Ill be using it with Cubase 5.

Also, Im thinking of getting Beyer DT150's. I borrowed them from college for a week and fell in love them. Any opinions?

I'm a headphone nut. I have DT-150, Sennheiser HD25 and AKG K273. The Sennheisers are the best. That's after 11 years of DT-150 use for everything. Those things are very well built, and I've always found them excellent for miking and mixing. I was a huge fan til I heard the Senns; they are just better. And you can use them with your iPod and not look silly.

The Behringer BCF 2000 is great for the money. You have to spend a lot more to improve on it- meaning, nicer faders and a channel strip; both of which make the process much smoother. For example, the Euphonix- luverly but pricey.

Thanks for that. Ill have to check our the Senn's but I think the Beyers are more for me at the moment. I've found they give decent isolation for the louder environments. I doubt any studio of mine is going to have a separate control room just yet. Though just reading the blurb about the Senn's, interesting.

If I can find a set of the HD's Ill have a play :D

I understand with regards to the BCF. Im almost sure Ill get the BCF this Summer. Having some faders would be nice. I still need to research how customisable the controls are with Cubase 5.

    Thanks for the response!

Iso on HD25 is as good as the DT-150.

I had a BCF 2000 when I first got my set up together. It was supposed to work with Pro Tools (via a Mackie emulation) but despite spending hours on forums & talking to various folks, it never worked with PT. You should be Ok with Cubase though. It does what it says on the in – it’s not exactly German build quality, but it does have motorised faders & all the rotary controllers you’ll need - amazing value at that price. You can also daisy chain them together. I’d advise getting one 2nd hand – there have been a few on adverts.ie in the past.

I also have the Sennheiser HD25s… they are great for mixing, very comfy & light… and you can buy replacement parts if anything goes wrong… which in my experience it will. I’ve replaced 2 cables (€25ea) and a capsule (the “earpiece”… €65). Ridiculous build quality for headphones that were nearly €200 when I bought them 2 years ago.

Very cool, ill check them out when I can.

Thanks ZV Yoda, I have seen a few videos of daisy chained BCF's.
They will be great for getting automation written for me to tweak by a mouse.

I just have to run into some money :D

    Thanks all

Hey ZV, I got my BCF to work with Pro Tools, if you need a hand with that give me a shout.

I'll hang on the the DT-150s so. Mine are 12 years old and I never replaced anything!

Thx for the offer... I ran out of patience with the BCF so I sold it & got a Digi Command8 on Ebay instead. Digi take the p*ss with the price of the C8, but since it's designed for PT, it works flawlessly.

Yeah, hold on to those DT-150s... my HD25s started acting up again last night. Unreal! I think there must be Gremlins sneaking into the studio when I'm not there.
