    Got this today :)

    Hi,
I'm writing this with tears in my eyes, sorry I did not inform you about our trip.We actually made a quick travel to Malaysia and unfortunately attacked and mugged at gun point on the way to our hotel, all cash, credit card and cell phone were taken away from us but luckily we still have our passport with us.

We`ve been to the embassy and the Police here but they're not helping issues at all and our return flight leaves anytime from now but we`re having problems settling the hotel bills and the hotel manager won't let us leave until we settle the bills.

Am freaked out at the moment and need help.

    Edwin M Zammit

I'm just wondering does this kind of email get a better return than the usual "you've won the lotto / we've millions to give away" emails which rely on human greed to ignore the scam signs.

At least that one is from some randomer. Some of them target people through facebook and sign off as one of your friends to make it more believable.

Let's face it, nobody choses the fake name 'Edwin M Zammit' so he must be real. You should help him

Marge: You know, Mom, you and Abe have a lot in common. Um...hmm. You both got swindled by that telemarketing scam!

Abe: Oh, it's not a swindle. What you do is, see, you give 'em all your credit card numbers, and if one of them is lucky, they'll send you a prize.

Give him the money and see what happens but for God's sake don't go after it if it turns out to be a scam :D

(btw I've heard of this one before, the e-mail is supposed to come from the e-mail address of someone you know, that encourages you to send money to help your friend who's got into trouble overseas. It doesn't work if you don't know the person the e-mail is from...)

How gullible do some people think others are? You have to be incredibly stupid to ever fall for any of these.
