    Hi guys,

I know this doesn't strictly belong in the golf forum but I have kindly been given permission to post here by the marvellous mods, as it is my FAVOURITE forum and I post here the most:cool:

Please read on and help if you can, no pressure, and thank you in advance.

    Hello friends and family members!

As some of you might already know I am going to Uganda this summer for three weeks to do some volunteer work. So yes this is a letter asking you for your help, not I might add for my travel costs, but to directly help needy children in Kamuzinda Childrens's Village in Southern Uganda.

Below is some info about the project I am going to work on. I'll be doing all sorts of things while I'm there, everything from teaching children, to working on the farm, building and maintenance work, and loads more.

Any help you can give will be very very much appreciated. And every euro counts. In Uganda children die every day from malaria but 2 euros buys a mosquito net. So for 2 euros you could save a child's life. Have a read of the info below for more details on what I'll be up to.

    THE UGAIRISH PROJECT

I am going to work on the Ugairish Project, a small charity set up by my friend's Mum Siobhan Kinsella. The Ugairish Project is a sustainable education and food project and is linked with the farm school at the
Molly and Paul Children’s Village in Kamuzinda. Molly and Paul are a Ugandan couple and have set up Kamuzinda Village to provide care and education for more than 200orphaned or destitute children.

The village includes kindergarten, primary and secondary schools along with the farm school. The children live in houses of about 25 children and are under the guardianship of a housemother. About 300 other children from the area attend the schools on a daily basis.

The Ugairish project sends money monthly to the farm to pay for seeds, animal feed, labour, tools etc. The food grown on the farm goes directly to the children. It's as straightforward as sending money for seeds one month and a few months later the children have maize to eat, or sending animal feed for the cows so that they have milk to drink.

Each summer volunteers from Ireland travel to Uganda to help on the farm, work with the children and assess what other needs are there (projects the volunteers have done in the past include buying solar panels for the clinic, building latrines, testing the children's eyes, putting windows in the classrooms, vaccinating the chickens etc.). Every euro donated to the Ugairish Project goes directly to the children and the farm.

Thanks for taking the time to read this letter folks and thanks in advance for your help. Details on how to donate are below.

    Thanks,
    John

Re: Donations. It is important to know that I will be travelling to Uganda on 9th June, just over two weeks away. I will be bringing all moneys which will have been collected by me personally to distribute to particular projects and areas of specific need. The money which you lodge to the Ugairish bank account will be distributed by the charity during volunteer trips later in the Summer.

So, if you are likely to see me over the coming weeks, then I will gladly accept donations from you, and will bring back photographic evidence and documentation on exactly how your money was spent while I was there. If I am not likely to see you then a donation to the bank account would be marvellous. Thanks a million.
