wireless tether on rooted Desire

I've rooted my desire and have the Wireless Tether app.

Application loads fine, seems to initialise fine, and I can connect to it as a 'Device' using AirPort on the MacBook.

But there's no indication on the Desire that any machine is connected to it and can't access Internet on the Mac while connected.

    Has anyone got this working?

I thought I had it working the first night I rooted the desire, seemed to connect, but maybe my laptop was actually picking up connection elsewhere, I was half in the middle of something else when trying so didn't fully explore. However, since then, I haven't been able to get it working. It seems to be ok, but when I open firefox etc it doesn't load any pages and the up/down usage on the phone doesn't change from 2/4kb so I don't know what's wrong and don't know where to start in terms of a solution :o

Yeah, that sounds like what I got :-/

Pity. Would be a great feature. I'll probably investigate further over the weekend.

Cool, keep us posted :) I'm Vodafone by the way and the connection shows up as a "computer to computer" network on my wifi list if that makes a difference :)

    You're on Windows?

On the MacBook it's a "Device" - as opposed to being in the usual list of Wireless Networks. Assume that's the same thing.

Anyway.. Can't really play with it now :P. Work to be done.

Oh sorry, yeah, I'm on Win XP Pro :)

I'm sure the problem is with the desire though as opposed to the OS :)

I'll buy whats best, phonewise thats my HTC Desire, which saves me buying an iPad 3G cos I can use my phone to tether, among a miriad of reasons why its better than iPhone.

Tabletwise for now its the iPad, Android tablets will begin to challenge late this year and early next, but the appstore still lags behind. I think Android tablets will steal the apple crown, much like the phones have, but we are probably 12-18mths away from it actually happening on the tablet front.
