Michael Emerson has confirmed that there will be a 12 minute coda concerning Ben and Hurley on the Lost DVD and Blu Ray to be released in August.

Hmmm interesting. But by the sounds of that article it will only be available on the Complete collection DVD. Im sure it will make its way to Youtube though.

It kinda sucks if it's only on the Complete coolection as I already have Seasons 1-5 on DVD, whuch i'm sure a lot of people already do

Only thing I have on dvd is half of season two. Watched first season online on channel four and then bought first of season two and by then I was up to speed with series on tv. Season Two was a cracker.

I could really do without an "epilogue" tbh. That final moment of Jack dying was so incredibly perfect that I don't want to know what happened afterwards. I may give it a pass. Sounds like something ABC dreamed up to get people to buy the complete set.

Yup I'm usually quite opposed to creators going and tinkering with stuff when there is a perfectly good conclusion there already. I'm not sure if I want to know what happened to Ben and Hurely, their two brief conversations - in the jungle and outside the church - were nice character moments without getting into what are possibly needless specifics!

Id really like to know what happened when Locke became leaders of the others. Was never really explained like a lot of the other stuff

The only thing I'd be curious about is how Hurley dies eventually. All the other protectors we know of ("mother", Jacob, and Jack) were murdered. Jacob would have been at least 800 years old if the language his real mother was speaking was Latin. And he didn't look like he was going to die of old age any time soon, so either Hurley lived much, much longer (assuming dying of old age is even possible for a protector), or he was killed.

That episode with Jacob as a child was set in 25-50 AD so he had nearly 2000 years compared to Jacks 2000 mins to protect the island!!!

How do we know that? I couldn't see anything to be able to date the episode (but I only watched it once and am sure I missed something to be able to date it better). My 800 year reference simply came from the fact that Latin died out as an official spoken language of a country around then, but I'm trusting what I read here that they were in fact speaking Latin in the start of that episode, and I agree that it was likely based in a much earlier time. The older Jacob was though, the less likely it is that Hurley died of old age, so I wonder what the story would be that would lead up to someone killing Hurley! It wasn't the most likely suspect (Ben) as he would have apologised to Hurley just like he did to Locke. I can't imagine his death would be covered in the epilogue as a result...

but does the protector have to be murdered, could they not just pass the job onto someone else and then when they pass it on either start to age normally and die of old age or just cease to exist.

I've said it a few times on other boards that I think Walt is the protector of the island, thats why he wasnt in the church...

I wonder will it be the first time I was right about anything on lost

Umn, he was leader of the others for about 15 minutes. I don't see what there is to explain.

I just posted it in the Richard thread, but said I'd post it again here.
the reason people are so sure is because of the type of Latin they were speaking, not just that it was latin.
It was specifically a form of Latin that pre-dates new age latin...something about the endings of the words.... the use of this language specifies that it was prior to something like 60AD (not sure exact dates)

And it showed it in it's entirety, didn't think it left anything to the imagination.

What is it you want to know Spirit?

Wow, I have to say I'm impressed with the level of detail they put into it. Little tidbits like this have been why I've follow this forum over the last few years as well. :)

Anyone know what the European release date is? Really hoping it's the same as the States - either that or the Blu-ray is region free, which I doubt :(

Play.com are saying the release date for Season 6 is September 20th, so I assume the Complete Collection will be released the same day.

But was Michael there? You could argue he was the protector on that logic, no?

This is an interesting question - three of the five seasons so far released on Blu-Ray are region free. Two of them (Three & Four I think) are locked. I'm hoping that the Complete Collection is entirely region free as you just know that it's going to be even more expensive than a US import when they charge it in Euros/Sterling.

As well as price, I found this on another forum:
Remember, go for region 1/region A if you can. The European sets are all subject to episode cuts made by SKY and unrestored for the dvd, season 6 is no exception.

Season 5 on R2 had a few bits cut out and reordered from the final episodes. http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Season_5_dvd

I think the same is true of season 2.
SKY aren't directly involved in the dvd release, but the version edited to fit their broadcast is always exactly what ends up on the dvd. And seeing as there has already been one cut for SKY from ep601 (a Ben monologue scene) its a very good bet that there will be more to come, and they won't be restored for R2.

Has anyone ever noticed this? Or can anybody recall what episode had a Ben monologue? I watched the ABC broadcasts and I can't remember off the top of my head.

Edit - It was 6x01, didn't read it right.

Yeah I've read that exact same post elsewhere too. I guess it's hard to know whether that is true or not - I've got the R1 DVD boxset for Season 3 but couldn't tell you if I noticed any small scenes being longer than when they were broadcast on Sky. Seems strange, if true.

The problem is that anytime there's a double episode (e.g. the finale or the season 6 premiere) ABC/Disney has to break it into two episode for those countries that won't air the full double-episode. Usually this results in scenes being rearranged or cut. Even though Sky usually air these episodes as a double, for some reason the international distributers always break up the episode for all the international releases.

The changes are usually minor, but apparently they went to town on the season 5 finale.

This is the reason I always bought the R1 dvds.

We are in 2010 are they still pulling the region locked card. What bull**** and yet they wonder why people download stuff illegally.

That set is lovely. I probably won't bother though, the ending left me feeling pretty satisfied. Then again, in 10 years time, I could find myself thinking "Lost...what was that about again?!". I assume that the same will happen with 24, and I'll get double value by watching both shows again!

The epilogue is 11 minutes long and is called "The New Man in Charge". Despite what was previously believed, it will be on the season 6 dvd set, not just the complete collection.
