The following letter was in the MetroHerald today http://e-edition.metroherald.ie/2010/05/27/12.html :
I read in the papers yesterday that "Fás is committed to ensuring equality of opportunity in the workplace" and "provides a total grant of E2667 to each employer for each female apprentice recruited" to promote the entry of women into designated apprenticeships.

While I think this is great, it is frustrating that there is little out there to promote the opportunities for men to broaden their career options out into new and non-traditional areas of work. Is this equality?

Females who are interested in applying for a FAS apprenticeship should be aware of a special bursary FAS offer to employers, in the public and private sectors, who take on female apprentices. The bursary provides a grant of €2,667 for every female apprentice an employer takes on, to help with wages and other costs. So be sure to remind employers of this opportunity when applying ladies!

Might be wrong about this but FAS doesn't tend to opperate much in industry dominated by women, so such a grant probably wouldn't serve much purpose.

    Hey OP

Its generally accepted on message boards such as this, that when linking to an article etc, in order to promote discussion, the OP puts forward thier thoughts on what they are linking to. Linking to articles and copying and pasting without your own thoughts is generally not the done thing. Maybe in future you can bear that in mind.

    Cheers

    DrG
