Playstation network Ban

Just got a one month ban from playstation network. Some little moron I was having a slagging match with couldn't take it and got all his friends to report me for abuse. Is that all it takes to get someone banned??? Wouldn't mind but I only stepped in cause he was abusing someone else. Is it just me or are American playstation users useless at dishing out abuse and even worse at taking it.

Kind of reminds me of footballers diving on the ground holding their faces in order to get a player sent off.

Just opened a new account anyway.

Whats the longest people have been banned for?

Americans can't give any decent abuse at all one example being I was playing fifa and missed a shot and the guy was like 'you're garbage, just garbage,' so I show him what proper abuse was like

I didnt know that u could get a temporary ban. I was under the impression that ban's are for lifetime.

Yea, i am not a fan of them yankees. Hate them especially when playing MW2. Its the kids thats the worst of em all.

I was on MAG one night and a guy on my team had the gamertag Halolegend. He got dogs abuse. One guy asked him if he had any respect for his PS3 using a name like that ?

I tend to just laugh at the kids when they start abusing.

Or did they simply take the word of enough people who reported you? (Anybody want to report Retr0 for hating FF7? See if we can get him banned?)

I've said some awful things (that I still don't regret) to people over PSN, things people would be pulling knives on me for in real life, even the most respectable of people, yet I've never been banned from PSN.

I'm the same but I draw the line at racism which a lot of muppets don't and I can see that being a banable offence.

Feckin Yankies always getting people into trouble for no reason at all with their weapons of mass distruction lies and what have ye, is a bit of abuse not part of the fun of it especially when playing sport's game's. Do ye still know yer man's PSNID if ye do post it up and we'll try get that fecker banned see how he like's it

Stupid ban cosidering he started dishing out abuse, and what I said wasn't even that bad. He resorted to racist remarks, but I got banned???Then again, I have a feeling American users are wrapped in cotton wool, considering they are more likely to sue sony over any "grief" they incur while playing.

is it just me does throwing abuse at people either on psn or live not just ruin it for all? including ourselves?

maybe op was seriously offensive on psn? i know kids are horrible and dont care what they say online as they dont see any immediate actions being taken against them but i still think the likes of lowering the tone is ruining online gaming!

this is what throws gaming into a negative light and we should be doing whatever we can to stop ruining what we love imo!

Fair enough but if I got abuse I wouldn't just start reciting paragraph 6 , section 5 , line 2 of PSN rules on abuse.
I would give the little bol@*x a good verbal pasting .

I think they take a pick and mix approach to banning people i wouldnt put much faith in the reporting function. For the record, the worst tirade of abuse i have ever received was from an Irish Guy which i thought was quite odd, but there you go!

The reporting function on the playstation site is very restrictive, it only holds a small number of characters (bit like a text message) before it cuts you off, which indicates to me IMHO that they dont really care about the description of the incident or any background info. I'd imaging they give out bans based on volume of complaints received within a certain timeframe (or maybe even at random) :eek:

The yanks never seemed to have copped on that we were irish lol. they best nationality ive *been* was australian lol that made me laugh

Also, of all the people who have been banned that i know, a month is the max they've been locked out of their account for. never seen a permanent ban tbh. Those i know that have been banned have secondary accounts for when they are on COD or Fifa and therefore more likely to get into a verbal with random punters!
