Weird boxes on a pole - douglas

Was driving down Maryborough Hill the other day and spotted a blue barrel with a pole coming out of it, and a grey box strapped to the top of it. It was just at the end of the hill by the garda station. Saw another one by Douglas Court and one on Rochestown Road. Anyone know what these are?

Thats what i was hoping they weren't! I thought they might have been traffic counters as there's one on each entrance to the fingerpost roundabout.

I imagine that is what they are. The council is trying to determine how busy each section of road is.

Little sense in putting a speed camera at a roundabout where people are slowing down anyway.

im sure those were at the tesco junction when it was a roundabout too...:(

Why do they keep doing that!! :mad: that tesco one is a shambles, no turn right to douglas from the village, what's that about!!

I think the new layout around Douglas works better than it did. I get through the village now off the South Ring much faster than before.

Doesn't work at 8 in the morning when everybody is trying to get thru there! Douglas village is a total bottleneck in the mornings.

Well if the nice residents hadn't object to the ring having proper full entrance and exits in the village then the traffic would be much lighter, hopefully the NRA will step in and fix this.

Any update on these? They look like sensors from a "flashing" sign,like the one on Melbourne Rd.

Still don't know what they were but they seem to be gone now... I guess we'll never know!
