iPhone Car Kit????

I have searched all over ebay for the right car kit for my iPhone and all I can find it holders with audio cables and iphone transmitter / charger that connects to the cigarette lighter.

This is the biggest load of crap as I've actually bought an expensive one before and it was appauling. Anyone disagree feel free to say so.

Having to carfully plug in a audio cable and the chager is also a newsence and just using the iPhone speaker is no way convenient.

Ideally what I am looking for is a proper car kit with a dock station that you simply just slip your iPhone into and it is hard wired to the radio, of course every time the phone rings the radio switches off so that you can take the call using the speakers in the car.

Obviously I can't find what I'm looking and I would very much appreciate some suggestions if anyone has any!?

    Thanks

The only one which is a proper all-in-one is the TomTom car kit

The only thing it doesn't do is relay the call through the Car speakers, but the speaker on the TomTom is more than adequate.

I just get in the car, slot the phone in and away we go. No messing with cables and whatever.

Like every other aftermarket item, it does use the lighter socket, but you can always hard-wire it directly to the socket (which is something I may do in future).

If your radio already has bluetooth, then you're better off just looking for a charging dock. But if you don't have a bluetooth radio and no desire to buy one, the tomtom is your only man. I did all the research, couldn't find anything (or combination of things) to beat it.

Hey I use a Parrot which works through the radio speakers over bluetooth.

I use the PARROT CK3100 LCD , its not a fancy model but it does the trick.

I do see now though that they have a parrot for the iphone called the PARROT MKi9200. It looks very cool.

Cheers for the feedback guys, the Parrot looks like the best solution alright but man look at the price!!

I'll get in touch with some of the ebay dealers and try and get the price down. I'll let ya know how I get on.

    Thanks again.

I have searched all over ebay for the right car kit for my iPhone .......
    Thanks

See my post #4 here for the holder. Perfect. Just install it with a readily available nokia CK7W ( cheap as chips ) and you have a very good solution. Works flawlessly for me.

    Parrot is too expensive.

EDIT: I've had to search for this one. Another thread here from last year. I've posted pics of my setup on post # 27

    I cant recommend this enough

    http://www.mymemory.co.uk/Bluetooth-Car-Kits/LG/LG-HFB-500-Bluetooth-Solar-Car-Kit

I see its out of stock, but It should be in again. I use it with my iphone 3g and it works a charm. Solves the carkit problem for €25. And because its solar powered, there are no cables required.

Parrott MKI 9200 , plays your music through your car speakers, mutes car stereo when calls received, voice calling /answering.

Regular updates, also allows music to be played from SD/USB and you can plug your iPod/iPhone into it to play music,

I have it and would be lost without it.

    Think its €249 in halfords

True pistol, it is nice. But pricey.... and still no cradle / charge facility.

It is pricey all rite I will give you that , but it does charge the device when you plug into the cable that comes with it , This cable also has the USB connection on it , and a line cable. as well as the ipod cable for charging playing music.

When plugged into the ipod cable , you can scroll through your music files(with Artwork) on the screen provided , using the control knob , I find it very handy

I bought a sony bluetooth stereo that was end of line for just €129. It was an excellent purchase as it not only handles my calls but is also compatible with voice commands at the press of a single button, so when I'm driving I don't need to take my eyes off the road. All the iPhone voice commands work through it, so not only can I dial anyone in my phone book but I can also play any album in my ipod library all through voice command. The model I bought was the Sony MEX-BT2700 which I think is discontinued now, but if you look around you should be able to find something similar.

Of course the stereo wont charge my phone so I bought a kensington dashboard iPhone holder and a car charger. But most of the time I leave my phone in my pocket and only use the holder & charger when using the tom tom sat nav app, which I found to be excellent btw.

I got the Parrot Mki 9200 a few weeks ago and it's a great kit. The voice recognition never fails; it charges my iphone and can play music via Bluetooth or by using the cable that comes with it. It is more expensive than the other options but well worth it.

I have a cheap Lidl sterio in the car with built in blue tooth,it picks up the iphone no problem, displays the number on the sterio, voice comes through the speakers. Not only that but the ipod in the phone plays through the speakers too. I paid €120 for it last year but last time I saw them they were €69.
Cracking sterio too, uses usb and cards +cd. I dont work for lidl btw.
