Is a screen protector really necessary for iPhone

Hi Guys, I have an iPhone for a couple of months now. I had a screen protector on it but it is mostly just annoying as it's very hard to put it on perfectly without any bubbles. My friend also has an iPhone but has no screen protector and there isn't a scratch to be seen on it. The screen seems to be very scratch resistant.

Anyone here actually got a scratch on their screen? Should I bother with a screen protector?

I have two small scratches on the screen, so yes it can be scratched. If you don't want to worry about scratching it, a protector is the way to go.

just apply it with a thin layer of barely soapy water, like the old airfix stickers.

The screens are pretty resistant to damage. Ther housing and the metal surround are far mor susceptable to damage. That said, the Belkin screen protector ( HMV I think ) - 2 for a tenner - are simple to put on. No soapy water needed. Com with squegee for easy application. You will NOT see it once in place and it has absolutely no effect to the display. Highly reccomended.

It's honestly not essential. Mine had one on it, and has no real major scratches in the 6 months since it fell off. That said, they're so cheap and easy to get, there's no harm in having one.

I've never used a screen protector on my iPhone. Just keep it away from keys & loose change in your pockets and you're grand.

Pick a pocket for your iPhone and the other for keys coins & wallet. Works well for me, no protector and no scratches!

I have an iPod Touch and and iPhone and when I got the ipod I only kept it in a rubber body case with no screen cover. Now there are a few noticeable scratches from ware and tare. When I got my iphone I had a plastic screen and body protector, It was okay but I found that I was constantly calling voice mail because my hand would brush against the screen if i reached for something with my thumb. I would definatly get a plastic body cover and screen protector.

tbh i never understood why anyone would keep anything else in the same pocket as they keep their phone it, be it an iphone or not.

    Lack of pockets perhaps?

No need. I have mine 9 months with no protection and it's perfect. Like it was said above, don't put it in a pocket with your key or change and it'll be grand.

    Ice hexxed myself now :-)

Does it really matter if it gets scratched anyway? One is not exactly trying to preserve a resale value.
