    NO!!

If you re laminate it you are tampering with an official document.

Go to the licencing section of your Co. Co and apply for a duplicate. You'll have it issued within a week. if your stopped inbetween explain your situation and you will be demanded to produce with ten days.

    Hi,
Done this once, brought it to the County Council licence branch, with foto's and said I was a man and asked for help, they laughted and 15 mins later me and the new licence were off with a smile. Worth a call to them if you can make it to them for a duplicate or replacement licence:)

I thought it was an offence not to be in posession of a license while driving?
There was a time when you were given time to produce, but that was changed some time ago.
My license is a sad feeble affair after 10 years (due in Nov) because of being carrried around in my wallet.
Why we can't have a credit card thingy I just don't know.

Do you not still have to get a form stamped by a Guard for a damaged licence? Or did I waste a good 30 mins of my time finding the right form in a CIC and queuing in Tallaght last year?

Either way, its a tenner and the price of the photos and you'll get it anywhere from 2 working days later to a week generally depending on the MTO.

Yes there is a summons for failure to produce your licence there and then......however once its produced then normally no summons id issued.

(however yes it is still an offence)

The evilest Guard in the world isn't going to prosecute you for not having it on you if you've got the reciept for the replacement and can produce it once it arrives.

I believe we only sign for lost or stolen licences as its an official document. When you bring in the damaged one....well why would a Garda have to signa form??:D

Its a tickbox on the form!

The form had the old price (fiver) and took the girl in the CIC an eternity to find, so they could easily have changed it. Desk officer just stamped it anyway...
