Inusrance Policy Renewal

My car insurance is up for renewal, I've been with AXA for the past 2 years and now they've just quoted me for next year. The difference between last year and this coming year is that I'm now a full license holder and I dont believe that AXA's quote is good enough.

I'm going to shop around and a quick quote from No Nonsense looks like I could save a good bit on what Axa have quoted me but does anyone have any advice or recommendations or what pitfalls to avoid. I'm fairly new to this game and any information would be helpful

    Thanks in Advance!

Bestquote.ie ......You will not be disappointed

Filled out the free quotation from bestquote.ie and the bestquote was €200 higher than what I was quoted on nonsence.ie

I think I'll go around individually myself

Don't just compare prices, compare actually what is covered under each policy. Some companies will offer low premiums but when you actually see what is covered things like windscreen cover or no claims bonus protection are not included.

They are a bit like Ryan Air offering €1 flights, by the time you include online check in, credit card fees, etc the price has risen substancially.

as above its not all about the price

axa offer a great product but they arent cheap but they do reward safe driving by having the highest ncb of anyone

quinn offer a rubbish product but they are very cheap so if thats your only criteria go with quinn

personally ill never use a broker i just dont see the point and it adds one extra layer of crap if anything goes wrong

there is whittle room as well dont be afraid to go back to one insurer and say these guys are quoting me this and that can you mathch it, particularly if it was a broker quote that might be from the original company(ie axa) anyway

having said all that people expect too much when they get their full licence, especially since the new laws came in. its very safe for an insurance company to insure someone who can only drive under supervision. when you get your licence you are now an inexperienced driver under no supervision

Well I'm going to leave whats actually covered aside for the moment to simplify my situation. Lets just say that the additional cover offered is equal or close enough

    Current:
AXA Quote is X amount for Third Party Cover, €550 cheaper than last year

    Best Alternative (so far)
No Nonsense is €190 cheaper than AXA for Fully Comp

I'll continue shopping tomorrow night (I have loads of time to look) and see if I can get a better quote but I think I'll be ringing AXA and telling them that I've a better offer elsewhere and see if they can match or better it.

    .

big difference alright i imagine the no nonesense quote is a quinn policy. if you can find out which company they are using to get the quote from that would help you out alot as you can then go direct with the company

just make sure you know the exact extras you are getting with axa and the others

also i 'think' axa have a driver first policy which is for first time drivers and they might have kept you on that plan (its the third party one i think) try ringing as if you were a new customer and see what quote you get

No-nonsense is backed by Ryanair, of all companies. Might be worth reading the T&C's of the policy with a fine tooth comb if the airlines policies are anything to go by...

Allianz.ie and bestquote.ie were the best for me when I renewed last month. Good luck with the search, I find it the most frustrating part of Motoring. The difference between companies is crazy sometimes.

Wait, No Nonsense is a broker? (I'm on a go slow today!)

Yea, i'll be keeping tabs on the additional cover, definitely want cover to drive other people's cars for convenience sakes :)

I'll have to wait for another day to ring Aviva & Quinn, they wont give me a quote online. Quinn actually wouldnt even give me a quote over the phone 2 years ago, I'd nearly not go with them out of principle
