    Hi there,

I'm looking for two weeks work placement (unpaid/paid - doesn't matter) in Microsoft's branch at Sandyford this July.

If anyone on here works there/knows someone, can you please advise me on the best way in? Sent an email last Sunday evening yet no reply as of yet. :(

    Cheers

i think you are over optimistic if you think that a huge company like microsoft are going to respond to an email you sent a couple of days ago.

    what should you do :

if I was in secondary school I would go ask my career guidance teacher - they might have contacts in some company.

Similarly if I was in third level i would go to the careers service.

they will probably not be able to get you inside Microsoft but they might be able to get you in somewhere.

I think your chances of being accepted for two weeks work placement in July are slim tbh. (I used to work for Microsoft).

A small startup would be the way to go I reckon...

I just recently got a grab job there.. there is no "best way in".

The recruitment lady I dealt with is extremely busy, and that is a slight understatement. Patience might be the best advice for now.

It's a "grad" job i.e. once you graduate from uni. Well done "bunnyfox7" ;) nice grad job to get! Did you have the 3 hr long interview process? Your year at intel paid off! Do you know anyone working for apple? I hope to do voluntary work there this summer if thats even accepted, maybe 1 or 2 days a week to make my cv look more appealing for work experience next year...I'll try other places around cork too but apple would be my preference.
If its secondary school work experience you are after you'd probably need a contact in the company... I went on my placement in fifth year to johnson & johnson but I only got it through a contact.
    Best of luck!:)

I saw bunnyfox7 and recognised it from the cs forum...not too many girls in cs and considering there is a megcork or something to that effect, it was narrowed down quite a bit lol. How did all the exams go for you? :)
Mine will be out on the 17th...i want them now! hate the wait
