Just picked up one of these in Tesco Clearwater in Finglas. Gets mostly decent reviews. Apple store has them for 80 quid... the fools! Maybe can be got a bit cheaper online? However, when it was staring me in the face in the shop I just nabbed it.

Link should be working... I have tried it on two different computers and my iPhone and it works ok. Could be your browser?
Otherwise just google it. There seems to be plenty of sites with reviews and prices.

It's nothing to do with anything outside your car really. It just transmits a radio signal from your iPod that your car radio can then pickup - so you can play tunes from your iPod out your car speakers.

I used mine yesterday around Dublin and never had any problems. It scans for the best frequency and then you just tune your radio to that station. If you start getting interference then do a re-tune.

Ipod only connection, but when I bought mine in Clarehall they had these for €20 which work on any MP3 player through the headset jack:

I got one in power city for €4.95. It didn't have a picture of an apple on it though so it works with any brand of player/laptop/walkman etc. If you want an Apple brand it will generally mean more money for a similar device.

Search the word fm transmitter in amazon.co.uk

Damn I think I bought the wrong one was in Tesco's Maynooth last night and Picked up an Ipod FM transmitter for €19.99 but it was a no name brand, what the deal with returning electrical items for a refund with Tescos? Is it to much hassle?

By the way this is a GRIFFIN iTrip FM Transmitter, not an Apple product. I was just showing what the price was on the Apple site. And yes, you can get lots of FM Transmitters cheap as chips (I saw a Lloyytron one in Heatons the other day for 4 euro!), but most of them are complete and utter crap... You would end up throwing them out on the road. I have done a lot of web searching for reviews of similar products, and the Griffin iTrip gets some seriously good reviews.

Shouldn't be a hassle. I changed similar items before in Tesco no probs, once you have the receipt.

Seems like a lot of money for what is relatively simple technology - which has been easily replicated at much cheaper cost (albeit sometimes inferior quality) ?

I have one of these I bought from ledshoppe or dealextreme for about USD3 ages ago, & its still going strong. I must say this is one I don't get.

I've owned two or three of these products, including a Griffin and have always been plagued by interference to the point where I just gave up.

but it is quality that matters. I have had a good few that the sound output is awful, connection brakes etc... As far as I know this one can charge you ipod too....

I think the quality of those things falls or stands with the ability to find a clean frequence.
I bought a Jabra Sp700 and it is a nice little tool.
It is not just a fm transmitter, it is also a handsfree tool for your phone.

It is able to change frequencies but so far i have found it quite hard to find one that is really clean on my car stereo. 88.1 is till now the best.

It can play songs from my phone to the car speakers but the quality isnt exactly great. But i am rather fussy as it comes to quality. It transfers all sound from your phone, including the sat nav i have on my phone.

It am happy with it for what i bought it for in the first place, handsfree calling, whether that is over the car speakers or this thing.

I would recommend it if you are looking for a bit more than just a fm transmitter.
