    Hi,

I dont have a firewire port on my Toshiba, and I also dont have the PCI slot either. I just have USB slots.

I need to upload video footage from the SONY camcorder to the laptop. I used to this via my firewire cable on my older laptop but not this one.

I bought an adaptor on ebay but that didnt work. What product do I need to look for instead?
Whats an adaptor and whats a convertor?

    This is what I got:

    USB A Male/M IEEE 1394 Firewire 4 Pin Adapter
    main_bullet.jpg Features:
sub_bullet.jpg Compliant with USB2.0 standard and backward compliant with USB1.1 standard
sub_bullet.jpg Compliant with IEEE 1394a-2000 Standard
sub_bullet.jpg Portable design and easy to install
sub_bullet.jpg Convert any USB A female connector to a Firewire 1394 4 Pin male connector
    sub_bullet.jpg Work with Digital Camera
sub_bullet.jpg Supports plug & play main_bullet.jpg Connector Type : Connector Interface: USB Type A male to Type Firewire 1394 4 Pin male adapter

But if i try to use it i get "Unrecognisable USB device"

Please help as I have a friends wedding I need to edit!

    Desperately Seeking Help!

Do you have an ExpressCard slot? If you do, you can get an adapter that plugs into it. (like one of these)

USB Interface like the Dazzle from Pinnnacle is what you want.

EDIT: Dazzle wont do it unless you wanna use an AV cable instead.

This will. But it isnt cheap.

did you install drivers for the firewire usb thingy ?

if you look in device manager it will list the name for the driver to look up
