An interesting passport conundrum

    I've had a look but can't see this on the board already.

    I'm traveling to Barcelona on June 16th and returning on 27th of June. I've just noticed my passport expires on the 12th July....two weeks later. (I know - a bit late in the day to be realising this!)

    Will the lovely Spanish Authorities have any problems with my flying with a passport so close to the expiry date? I heard that the US have had issues with it before.

    I asked in my local garda station last night and was told they wouldn't. But I was just wondering if anyone had any similar experiences.

    You can't have looked very hard!

    As long as you have a valid EU passport, you can travel within the EU right up to the date of expiry of that passport.

    You can fly right up to the date of expiration of your passport in Europe and US.

    As a matter of interest, I wonder what the situation would be if your return flight was cancelled/delayed, e.g. due to more volcanic ash, and your passport expired while you were stuck over there?

    Just to give you something else to worry about! :P

    Getting stuck in Spain? I think I could live with it!

    I heard they kill anyone instantly who is found without a valid passport.
