I'm looking at starting a networking/idea-sharing event approx once every four weeks, which will be a morning's hill walk/hike (free of charge).

It will be for SME Owner/Managers and have three aims:
    1. Get away from your business for one morning every month to get fresh air, exercise and an outdoor experience.
    2. Meet other people in a similar situation, with some of the same problems and challenges. This will hopefully allow idea sharing, discussion and problem solving.
    3. Have a simple LinkedIn group built around this event that participants can join, allowing further networking and possibly the opportunity for people to do business between each other.

Initially it would be the Munster area. What do you think?
    Will it get people interested?

Sounds very interesting, like the idea but can't participate, not in my locality and knees aren't up to hill climbing/hiking. Maybe push it out a little more and broaden the spectrum a little more that each member has to take turns organising the activity and maybe vary the activity a little (not too much though)

Also is this not prejudiced against the fat business man!

Okay so we need 3 more volunteers to to organise similar events in the other 3 corners of Ireland, I'll be at the East of Ireland event.

Thanks for your feedback. Also do you think once a month in an area would be too much on people's time?

I think this is a great idea, and I don't think once a month is too much at all - I've some network events that happen every two weeks so once a month is acceptable. I think the idea about varying the activity is good too as while I wouldn't mind the hill-walking I could understand how it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea :)

    Hi,
Good idea. Would certainly beat meeting people over a stogy breakfast once a month.

I'm Cork city based in IT. I normally start my working day with an hours walk with the dog early morning. So, a chat with like minded humans while walking would be of interest.

    Have you had any takers?

    I've PMd you.

    Regards,
    Andy

Hi Andy, Just got the feedback here. I'm going to come up with a plan for it next week and see we can get something going.
