I've never been to a cricket match but thinking of going to this one.....is this likely to be a good game? or a mismatch? (not meaning to offend anyone, but Aus is after all the World Champions)....Also, if I brought my two year old son, would that be a stupid thing to do? Particulary (and sorry for being very stupid here), is there much of risk that a ball could come flying over the boundary and whack him one.....

On paper, it's a mismatch, thankfully the game is played on grass so who knows. The Aussies may think they'll stroll it but playing on wickets here is very very different to playing in Australia or the Caribbean where they were recently for the 20/20 world cup. Home advantage could help a lot for Ireland.

There's virtually no chance of your child being hit by the ball, I've been to lots of Test matches and International games and have yet to see anyone injured or even hit by the ball (unless they were trying to catch it themselves in which case they're more likely to spill their pint on themselves!).

Do come along, it's a great opportunity to see a great team in Dublin, the weather forecast is looking good for once. Parking is at a premium so use public transport if at all possible.

I agree with what SchemingBohemia said - you'd be more than welcome. My only concern would be that the young fella might not be interested in an entire day's cricket? The game starts at 10:45 and won't be over much before 6pm.

Wouldn't take a two year old to the game myself (and in fact I'm not!). It's a long day, even for a six/seven year old. I presume there would be plenty of room around the back of the clubhouse for them to run around, but then you won't get to see the match!
